real projects.
New Orders
We have a new system for ordering
and paying for
HighRoad.
After you have evaluated HighRoad,
you can
order a full copy
and apply for another activation
code and the price you
pay.
For some time, Chris Baker, the
developer of HighRoad, has been
concerned that engineers in
developing countries cannot afford
HighRoad even though it appears to
be affordable to us here in
Australia.
The new pricing policy asks you to
suggest a fair price based on the
hourly rate you charge your clients
or the value of the time you save
by using
HighRoad.
Students and not-for-profit
organisations may want to apply for
a lower price to reflect their
current economic
circumstances.
The price you choose should be fair
for the purpose you intend to use
HighRoad for.
We suggest that a fair price is the
value of one week's work for you
but you may apply another amount
which is suitable in your
circumstances.
A lower price would be fair for
HighRoad users who do not expect to
do much road design (for example,
an architect may just use it for
layout).
However, for a corporation or road
authority, a fair price may be
higher than the value of a week's
work.
By using the value of work to
determine the price, it means that
the price is comparable for
different countries and varying
economic
situations.
You can see
information
on the background of this pricing
policy.
Upgrade Orders
The pricing policy for new orders
also applies to orders for upgrades
for existing HighRoad
licences.
The different HighRoad
configurations (S, Plus and Pro)
have been integrated into a single
version for all users. Now, when
you upgrade, all the features of
HighRoad are available to you under
the new pricing policy - everybody
receives the equivalent of HighRoad
Pro.
You can look at the details of
the modules.
If you already use HighRoad, you
can apply for an
upgrade price.
The suggested price for a minor
upgrade is the amount you charge a
client for one hour's
work.
The price for a major upgrade would
be more than this - again, it is up
to you to apply for a fair price
for an upgrade for your
use.
When you place an order, you will
automatically be sent a temporary
code that expires after 30
days.
When your order has been processed,
you will be sent an activation code
and you will be able to download
the latest versions of HighRoad as
they become
available.
